Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt defensive lineman Jason Kates has been quite busy fielding phone calls since Sept. 1. Coaches from many of the country's top college football programs have been in contact.
"I have 30 plus scholarship offers," Kates said. "I haven't narrowed it down too much."
When asked which schools he is most interested in, Kates said, "Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Penn State, Syracuse, USC, Florida State, Louisville, Michigan, and Michigan State. That's about who I'm looking at.
"All of them except USC and Florida State offered. I talked to just about all of them on the phone.
"I was invited to the Florida State-Miami game. I should have gone.
"I'm not sure about any official visits yet."
The 6-foot-2 and 325 Kates made 50 tackles including six sacks during his junior season. Kates, a four star player, is the No. 11 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania in the Rivals.com player rankings.
