Kasparek commits to the Zips

New Brighton, Pa. offensive tackle Zac Kasparek concluded his recruitment over the weekend by committing to Akron. The 6-foot-6, 299-pounder selected the Zips over offers from Cincinnati, Marshall, Miami (Ohio) and Toledo.
"I think I committed around five on Saturday," he said. "I called up coach Moorhead and Brookhard. They were really excited I was coming there to be apart of the team. I could hear them hooting and hollering."

What made the two-star prospect pick Akron?
"It was just what my family and I wanted, I felt like it's the best place for me," he said. "Their facilities are very good and I know they'll be getting a new stadium in a couple years and the coach just signed a five year extension.
"I also really got to know quarterback commit Matt Rodgers from my visits. I liked him a lot. I like the coaches a lot too. They are all fabulous and good guys that I can get along with."
Kasparek will likely get a shot to compete for a job as soon as he arrives in Akron.
"It all depends how I do this summer," he said. "I'd personally prefer to redshirt so that I can get bigger, but I'll do whatever is best for the team and if I can play that's great."
