Kareem commits to Notre Dame

Just over a week after announcing a de-commitment from Alabama, the school he had been committed to since June, Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison four-star defensive end Khalid Kareem has announced a commitment to Notre Dame. Kareem is coming off an official visit to the school this past weekend, after which he said the experience exceeded his expectations and saw a good fit for his playing style.

WHAT'S NEXT? Kareem is a mid-year graduate and will enroll at Notre Dame in January of next year. Shortly after returning from this past weekend's official visit to Notre Dame, his father expressed little desire to take any further official visits. Now that a commitment is made, expect Kareem to play out the remainder of his senior season and then prepare for joining the Fighting Irish in January.
IN HIS WORDS: "As an early enrollment student/athlete, the combination of great academics and great football is most important to my family & I," Kareem said on Twitter. "I'm 100% committed to further my education and play college football at the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish."
RIVALS' REACTION: In the wake of his de-commitment from Alabama, Kareem was looking for a school that was within a 5-6 hour commute for his family, and yet out-of-state. He found that fit in Notre Dame, which also meets his academic and athletic criteria. A 6-foot-4, 257-pound defensive end prospect, Kareem could also grow into a three-technique defensive tackle at the next level. He has 15 sacks for his Harrison team this season after recording 19 total sacks as a junior.
