Kareem adds first two offers

Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison 2016 defensive end Khalid Kareem landed his first two scholarship offers within days of one another.
The first offer for the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Kareem came through last week Thursday from Bowling Green.

"I was excited, but it was kind of a relief just to get the first one over with," Kareem said. "It was good to know there was going to be more to come."
More did come just two days later when Kareem was on the campus of Northwestern University to attend one of the Wildcat's home football games.
"I kind of knew it was coming soon," Kareem said. "My dad had been communicating with them for around two months now, and all they wanted me to do was come on campus so they could see my size. When they saw that it was, 'You have an offer.'"
The visit to Northwestern this past Saturday was Kareem's first time on their Evanston campus.
"I loved the campus and the city," Kareem said. "My aunt lives ten minutes away and that's a huge factor, having family down there. Just the atmosphere and the lifestyle of the town - I love it."
"They are a really strong contender just due to the fact I can fit really good into their defense and their schemes. I have a great chance to get some playing time my freshman year."
Additional schools are showing strong interest in Kareem. He spoke with Michigan State assistant coach Brad Salem on the phone Monday night and plans to be at the Spartan's home contest this weekend.
"It is just normal conversation right now," Kareem said. "They invited me up to the Michigan-Michigan State game, which is exciting. Hopefully I'll hear some good news from them."
Kareem also placed a call Monday night to Boston College assistant coach Ben Albert, with whom he has been building a relationship.
"I have been talking to him for a couple months now," Kareem said. "We have gotten close the last couple months."
Other schools that Kareem has seen consistent interest from include Purdue and Pittsburgh. At this time he has one other game visit planned for later this season and it will be to Bowling Green.
Kareem's on-field performance during his junior season has contributed to the rise in college interest. He has totaled 12 sacks among his 55 total tackles through eight games.
