Kanuch schedules first official

Johnstown (Pa.) Westmont Hilltop athlete Brad Kanuch paid close attention to last weekend's college football games. What did the 6-foot-0, 178-pounder think of the games?
"I watched a lot of games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday," he said. "I watched the Penn State game. I was impressed with Toledo's big win. Wake Forest put a good fight and came back from being down even though they still lost and I was impressed with Boston College too. They played well and Mathias Kiwanuka really impressed me."

The three-star prospect has two schools leading for his services heading into fall.
"I know I'm going to take officials to Maryland and Virginia," he said. "I have an official visit scheduled with Maryland on December 2nd. They are the two teams on the top of my list and I'm leaving the other three visits open for other schools.
"The three other schools leading for the other visits are Akron, Toledo and Wake Forest. My dad has been talking to Wake and they've been recruiting me hard and I like the school because they have a great campus and great academics. Akron and Toledo have offered me a chance to play early and they are both decent schools. I'm still deciding if I want to play early at a small school or wait to play at a big school."
The three-star athlete has Boston College up there too.
"Boston College is a great school and I think they are right in the mix for one of those other three visits."
Kanuch kicked off the season last Saturday and beat Bedford 24-21.
"I was out the whole third quarter with cramps, but I fought through it and came back in to score the game winning touchdown with 20 seconds left," he said. "I finished with two touchdowns and 57 yards rushing. I also had seven tackles on defense. Overall I was happy with how I did and we won and that's all that matters."
