Kansas WR ready to grow on season
Junior to Watch: Paul Byers
School: Marysville, Kan.

Position: Wide Receiver
Size and Speed: Byers is 6-foot-5 and 175-pounds. He has been clocked at 4.40 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
Statistics: As a junior, Byers caught 41 passes for 954 yards and nine touchdowns.
Honors: Byers was named to the Topeka (Kan.) Capital Journal Top 33 list. He was also named a first-team Class 4A selection by the Capital Journal and the Wichita (Kan.) Eagle.
Favorite Schools: Byers is receiving attention from Colorado, Duke, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Stanford and Wyoming.
Skinny: Byers is one of the top athletes in the state of Kansas for the class of 2004. He also is a standout basketball player.
"Paul worked hard this year in football and it showed with his performance and numbers," Marsyville coach Steve Warner said. "He played as a sophomore for us too and was probably the best athlete we had at the position. But he wasn't as good a receiver. That changed this past season.
"Paul will also get some opportunities as a basketball player. He is interested in playing that sport in college too."
Byers has not lined up any summer camps at this time.
"Nothing yet," Warner said. "But there are so many that he would like to see some of, he will probably look at doing some of the one day camps."
