Kansas standout adds first offer

Liberal, Kan., safety Mackenzie Rosel has added his first scholarship offer of the year.
“Mackenzie has picked up an offer from Kansas State,” Liberal coach Steve Warner said. “It came through last week. We kind of felt like it was about to happen, but they had to talk it over with coach (Bill) Snyder. He signs off on those things, I guess, and he finally gave them the okay to offer him.”

Despite adding his first offer, the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder is in no hurry to make a commitment.
“He sants to wait and see what all happens,” Warner said. “He is excited about the offer, but he’s not sure what else might come along. At this point, he is not really receiving interest from any other schools. I don’t know why. I guess, if they are, he hasn’t said a word about the other schools to any of us coaches.”
Rosel continues to play well for Liberal as they advance into the postseason.
“We played Topeka Highland Park over the weekend,” Warner said. “He played really well that game for us and we won. We’ll play Great Bend now. Mackenzie is having a great year for us. He’s over 160 tackles through 10 games. He is all over the field making plays wherever the ball is.”
While he plays safety for Liberal, the Wildcats are recruiting him to play outside linebacker.
“He plays safety for us, and I think he can make the transition well with his abilities to be a linebacker. He makes his way up to the line during most plays for us anyway. He just flows to where the ball is and finds a way to get himself involved in the play.”
