Kansas safety gathering interest

Liberal, Kan. safety Mackenzie Rosel has been receiving a lot of attention from schools already, but he is just eager to get back on the football field this fall.
“Mackenzie is a heck of an athlete,” Liberal assistant coach Tucker Woofter said. “He missed a lot of last year with West Nile virus. But, when he played, we really were happy to have him out there. He played linebacker and tight end for us this past fall. Several of our coaches think he has the make-up of a tight end in college, but I really think he’ll be a great free safety in college.”

So far, no schools have called to talk to Rosel.
“He hasn’t told me of any calls at home,” Woofter said. “We have had some schools come by here. Especially a lot of the smaller in-state schools to check him out. Kansas and Kansas State are scheduled to come by later this month. There have been a lot of schools sending him stuff, though.
“Michigan, where his brother played, has been sending stuff. The two in-state Big 12 schools have been sending stuff. Really, all of the bigger schools from this region have been sending stuff to him. He’ll have some choices later on.”
Those letters have yet to include a scholarship offer.
“None of them have offered yet,” Woofter said. “I am sure some will. I don’t know that it will be this spring, but it will happen.”
