Kansas RB shooting for state title

Gage McKinnis and his Hutchinson, Kan., teammates will play for another state championship this upcoming weekend. The 5-foot-8, 174-pound two-star all-purpose back has been pleased with how he's played this year, but he'd be really pleased if he could walk away with a state title.
"We've won state the last three years, so it's looking good right now," McKinnis said. "It's looking very promising for us."

McKinnis is a promising sleeper that already has put up good numbers this season.
"I feel like I've played good," he said. "I haven't had a whole lot of touches but I've had good numbers when I've had the ball. I've been averaging a good amount of tackles each game. Plus I've been averaging about 25 yards per punt return."
"I don't know my stats. The only one I can really tell you is that I have five interceptions. Then my yards per carry is around 10 or 11."
When it comes to recruiting, he does have an offer from Idaho, but he's looking for even more.
"I'm hearing the most from Southern Illinois, Kansas State and Arkansas," he said. "I don't have any visit plans set up yet, but I plan on going down to Arkansas and Southern Illinois at the end of the football season here in a couple weeks."
"But definitely Kansas State and Southern Illinois are my top two teams. Those are two teams that I really like a lot."
But what if nobody other than Idaho offers?
"I'll probably just go the juco route," he said. "I'll probably end up going to Hutch Community College where my dad coaches or somewhere like that."
