Kansas OL makes college choice

When Scott Haverkamp started the recruiting process one of his goals was to make an early decision. The 6-4, 280, lineman from Silver Lake, Kan. Did just that on Monday evening.
“I committed to Kansas,” Haverkamp said. “They have good coaches and I got to know them well. It’s a good fit for me so I pulled the trigger.”

The Kansaas coaches got a good chance to evaluate Haverkamp during camp sessions. He attended their offensive line camp and then shortly after that was at the full contact camp.
Haverkamp was getting most of his mail and contact from Arizona State, Kansas State, and Missouri.
As a junior he was voted all-conference on both sides of the ball. He was also a first team all-state pick in class 3A on the offensive line.
Now that his decision has been made he can focus on his senior year and not worry as much about recruiting.
“I feel relieved,” he said. “Going into the season I wanted to get the recruiting out of the way. Now I can focus on my senior season.”
