Kansas LB pulls the trigger

Mike Rivera took a visit to Kansas last weekend and was supposed to visit Missouri this weekend. But he has decided to end his recruiting gave a verbal commitment to the Jayhawks.
“We called Coach (Scott) Diebold to tell him first,” Rivera said. “We talked to Coach (Dave) Doeren and Coach (Mark) Mangino. I really liked the coaching staff and it seemed like the right thing to do.”

Both Kansas and Missouri were recruiting Rivera as a middle linebacker. At 6-foot-2, 240-pounds, Rivera has 4.6 speed and recorded a 34-inch vertical jump.
All along Rivera has stated that he wanted to make an early commitment and now he feels he can concentrate on his senior year.
“My dad and I discussed it a lot lately,” he said. “I had a good time at my visit last weekend. I liked the atmosphere and met some of the players. It was a very tough decision, but it feels good to get it off my shoulders. It takes my mind off the recruiting process and now I can concentrate on football.”
This evening both Mike Jr. and Mike Sr. talked with the Kansas coaches.
“Coach Mangino told us welcome to the family,” Mike Sr. said. “He said he will come have an in-home visit with us in December and meet the rest of the family.”
