Kansas hopes to continue Louisiana success with 2019 DB Chester Kimbrough

The Latest: Kansas is working to build a pipeline to Louisiana and currently has five-star Louisiana wide receiver Devonta Jason already in the fold along with his teammate and fellow Rivals100 prospect Corione Harris. But the Jayhawks aren’t stopping with the Class of 2018 as several underclassmen in the state are also on the Jayhawks radar. One of them is Class of 2019 defensive back Chester Kimbrough. Rivals.com recently caught up with Kimbrough to talk Jayhawks as well as his plans for summer visits.

In His Words: “Kansas is really showing me a lot of love. Coach Hull was my head coach so he's been back in Louisiana doing a lot of recruiting and he's the one I've been talking to. I think that's probably what it is, we have that relationship and that connection and that's something that other schools don't have.”

On potentially joining other Louisiana prospects in Lawrence: “It would be a good experience to go a school like that where I have people I already know. That makes it easier to go far from home knowing that there's more Louisiana guys up there.”

On his knowledge of the Jayhawks program: “I don't know much about it because I haven't visited it and seen it for myself. Hopefully I'll get to visit this summer and experience it.”

On his summer visit plans: “I want to get to see Georgia, Kansas and Oregon State and hopefully a few others.”

Rivals Reaction: Kimbrough looks like a rising star and Kansas is smart to get on board early. His connection with his former high school coach helps, but the Jayhawks will likely have quite a battle on their hands as Kimbrough continues to emerge as one of Louisiana’s best in the 2019 class.
