Amari Jones got the news he has been waiting for Monday morning.

The 6-foot-3, 205 pound quarterback out of Valdosta, Ga. picked up his first offer, and it came from Les Miles and the Kansas Jayhawks.

"Les Miles called my recruiting coach, then my mother, and offered me a scholarship," said Jones. "It feels great to get the first offer. I have been dreaming for this moment since I started playing football."

Jones started playing football at the age of four, and it was at that time, he started to follow Miles' coaching career.

Him being first to offer means a lot to the talented junior.

"I have been watching coach Miles since I was about four years old and I am honored he offered me a scholarship to play for his program.

"I love coach Miles. I have always loved him since he was at LSU and my interest in Kansas is high. I love their coaching staff."

Akron, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina and Harvard are some others that have been showing interest. He grew up a Florida fan because of their quarterback Tim Tebow.

Jones may play a little like Tebow, and he is excited to show his talent moving forward in 202.

"I consider myself a dual-threat quarterback," said Jones. "I believe I have the ability to sit in the pocket and deliver strikes to my receivers, but I also have the ability to run the football when needed."
