Kansas DE Miles Emery close to a decision

Overland Park (Kan.) Blue Valley North defensive end Miles Emery holds Power Five offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Louisville and Oklahoma and could be on the verge of pledging his services to one of those programs.

“Maybe in two weeks I will ready to make a verbal commitment somewhere,” Emery said.

With a decision potentially coming down soon, Emery has started to focus in on the top contenders.

“I have my choices down to Oklahoma and KU,” Emery said. “Things that are different at Oklahoma than KU is I feel they have more of the education that I am looking for. I want to be a chemical engineer and I feel like they have a better engineering program than KU does. Other than that they are pretty similar to me.”

Emery also said he prefers Oklahoma’s dorm setup to Kansas’, but despite those factors he clarified that his interest in the Jayhawks is very high and they have a strong shot of landing his commitment in the coming weeks.

“I like KU a lot and there’s a chance of me verbally committing to KU very soon,” Emery said.

Both Kansas and Oklahoma have hosted Emery for visits this off-season. Louisville has not, and although his attention is centered on the two Big 12 programs, Emery is interested in checking out the Cardinal’s campus before making a decision. No date for that trip has been scheduled yet.

Other schools that showed interest this spring included Miami, UCF, Alabama and Missouri. He plans to attend a camp at Kansas next month, but has not made any other summer camp plans at this point.
