Justices work paying off

Winston Justice has an idea why so many college coaches feel he is one of the nation’s top offensive linemen.
“Maybe it’s because I work hard,” said Justice, who plays for perennial power Long Beach (Calif.) Poly. “After practice, I’ll go to work more in the weight room. During the off-season, I have a running coach and I run a lot.”

The work ethic that Justice describes, to go the extra mile, certainly helps him. But when you combine the work ethic with his 6-foot-7, 297-pound frame, you have one of the nation’s most sought after offensive linemen.
Being so highly touted, Justice is already well into the recruiting process, narrowing his choices down to USC, UCLA, Florida, Florida State and Washington.
Here are some short tidbits on what the Rivals100 selection had to say about each of the schools that are recruiting him:
Washington: “It’d be a new area for me, new scenery,” he said. “I set up a visit for up there for sometime in mid-December. It’s with some of the other Poly guys but I can’t remember exactly what date it is.”
USC: “It’s my home school. It has good tradition and good alumni,” he said.
UCLA: “It’s pretty much the same as USC. Local school and stuff, you know.”
Florida: “Florida has a good tradition in football.”
Florida State: “They’re like Florida. You want to play with and against the best.”
Justice also said that one of his Jackrabbit teammates, defensive lineman Vernont “Maurice” Murray, had already orally committed to Washington. That’s one reason why the Huskies have remained on his list since the beginning.
Poly is 1-0 this season, defeating Los Angeles Westchester on Friday.
