Junior wide receiver lands first offer

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Even in a loss to Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit, St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood junior wide receiver Rodney Adams was able to make an impression. He had 8 receptions for 190 yards and two touchdowns.
"I tried to help the team get a victory tonight but we had too many penalties and we didn't capitalize on the turnovers we had," Adams said. "We just didn't get it done tonight."

The loss marked the first on the season for Lakewood. A big reason for their success is Adams' 25 receptions for 742 yards and 10 touchdowns on his junior season. His production and ability on the field has begun to get the 6-foot-1, 166-pound wideout noticed.
"I recently got my first offer, I think on Wednesday, from San Diego State," Adams said. "I just found out they offered. I didn't get a chance to talk with anybody from there."
In addition to the Aztecs, Adams is drawing interest from schools all over.
"I am getting interest from Florida, Indiana, Louisville," Adams said. "That is it right now."
So far this year, he has been able to get onto two in-state college campuses for games.
"This year I have visited Florida and Florida State for a game," Adams said. "I was at Florida when they played UAB and again against Alabama. I was at Florida State when they played Oklahoma."
Adams was very impressed by his time in 'The Swamp'.
"It is a great atmosphere," Adams said. "Everything is great up there."
He also enjoyed his visit to Tallahassee earlier this season.
"Florida State was kind of different," Adams said. "It was still great though."
While his recruitment is just beginning, Adams isn't shy about which school is his early favorite.
"Florida," Adams said. "They produce good players - Percy Harvin. I would just love to be one of the greats to come out of there, from a big school like that."
Florida dropped in on Adams and his teammates on Friday at the school. He said he has had some contact with the staff at Florida.
