Position: Defensive Tackle/Offensive Tackle
Size and speed: Trevor Laws is 6-foot-3 and 275 pounds. He has a 40-yard dash time of 4.85 seconds.
Statistics: He played both offensive and defensive tackle full-time last season.
“I think that I had like 35 pancakes.”
“I think that I had like 70 tackles with 20 for a loss. I think I had six or seven sacks. I think I had three caused fumbles, two recoveries and I think I had one interception last year. I saw a screen unfold and went over there and picked up a back and jumped in front of the ball. I scored once playing fullback.”
Honors: Trevor Laws not only is an excellent football player, but “I was the heavyweight state camp this year.” He was 47 wins and zero losses.
Favorite Schools: The correspondence just keeps coming in for Trevor Laws.
“I have over 100 letters from different colleges. It is lots of schools.”
Some of the schools that he has heard from include Michigan, Northwestern, Stanford, Iowa, Colorado, Notre Dame and Minnesota. He has offers from Michigan, Iowa, Notre Dame and Minnesota.
Other offers might be on the way.
“Stanford, Colorado and Northwestern,” he said about schools that are about to offer him.
He has a clear four leaders right now.
He seems to have his choices pretty much narrowed down, but he is not closed minded quite yet..
“I think that next month that I’m going to visit Stanford, Iowa, and Michigan again and Notre Dame. That is my top four.”
Skinny:
“That (quickness) is definitely the strong point of my game.”
Offense: “I think with all of the wrestling that I have done, has helped my balance a lot and to use my leverage a lot. I can go up against guys bigger than me and drive them off of the ball. The way that you use your hands in football is a very important thing. Wrestling has helped me out there too.”
Defense: “Definitely my quickness off of the ball. Explosiveness off of the ball. My first step and I can get by most kids with that. The penetration that I get is what gets me so many tackles in the backfield."
Distance Problem: Midwest region, but considering Stanford and might be interested in close Big 12 schools.
Camps: “I’m not sure what camps I’m going to attend.”
“Last year I played D-line and O-line, but I think I might play a little fullback and linebacker this year and that is why I’m going to get a little lighter.”
What position do you prefer?
“My true spot in college would be D-line.”
With your success in wrestling, would you be interested in wrestling in college?
“Football is my true love and I will definitely play football player in college.”
Early decision?
“I don’t know, as I have so many campuses that I want to visit that I could go to to look at. There is definitely some front runners in my mind, but I’m not in the decision making time yet.”
His conditioning is year around.
“I try to get to the weight room as much as possible. Speed and strength is what football is all about.”
Trevor Laws will have no problem qualifying academically. He carries a 3.94 grade point average.
