Position: Defensive Tackle
Size and speed: Tate Pittman is 6–foot-6 and 285 pounds. He has a 40-yard dash time of 4.9 seconds.
Statistics: Due to a broken leg he only played five games last season, but he still managed to get approximately 30 tackles, five sacks, and one interception. The prior season, in which he got to play for an entire year, he had 128 tackles, eight sacks, two pass knock-downs, six tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles.
Honors: He was named to one Texas publication as one of the top 100 players in Texas this year.
Favorite Schools: His only offer to date is from Texas A&M, but he is hearing from Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Louisiana State, UCLA, Boston College, Southern Methodist, Texas Christian, Iowa, Baylor, and Miami.
At this time, Iowa is recruiting the hardest.
The clear and undeniable favorite is Texas A&M, as Pittman said, "I verbally committed to them."
He said that he might take some visits later in the year.
However: "Texas A&M is my dream school. Lots of my family are alumus. I have a cousin, who plays for the New York Giants who went to A&M."
Skinny: He named his strong points as "my strength", as he squats 755 pounds. "I also think I pass rush well, and I understand the game."
He described himself as an aggressive and tough player.
"Distance was quite a large factor. Also, a lot of my family went to A&M. It's close to home, and they have great tradition there. I decided to make an early commit to make sure I've got a scholarship and not to have to worry about it."
He attended camp at San Marcos and plans to attend the Nike camp May 4 and the Texas A&M camp and he may attend a Louisiana State camp.
