Junior to Watch: Sam Desa
School: Danville (Calif.) Monte Vista

Position: Wide Receiver/Defensive Back
Size and Speed: Sam stands 5-foot-11, weighs 180 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds. Desa is also a standout in track. Runs the 100-meter in 10.80 and the 200-meter 21.82.
Statistics: Sam was super QB prospect Kyle Wright’s go to guy. When you catch 66 passes for 1,200 yards and 13 touchdowns as Sam did, you give the QB a guy you know you can count on. Sam’s performance as a junior was huge!
Honors: Sam won the Fred Biliteikoff award. This prize is given to Northern California’s top wide receiver. Sam was also awarded All-Area, All-East Bay and All-League as a junior.
Favorite Schools: No offers as of yet, but look for that to change real soon. Cal, Oregon State, Arizona and UNLV are already recruiting the talented wide receiver from Northern California.
The Skinny: Sam is simply put, phenomenal. He was double-teamed all season long. Forcing teams to abandon their own defensive scheme to stop Sam. Considering that Sam still caught 66 passes, his performance was nothing short of amazing.
“When I say Sam was double teamed, I mean it was a pure double team,” said Monte Vista head coach Craig Bergman. “They (opponents) would put one guy right I his face and one guy right behind him.”
“Sam is a great team guy who puts the team above self,” said Bergman. “He is a pleasure to coach.”
Remember the name Sam Desa and mark him down as a player to watch this season.
Rivals will.
Stay tuned…
