Honors: Ryan was selected first-team all-league and he was the only underclassman to achieve that honor. Kalil plays in one of southern California’s toughest leagues.
Favorite Schools: Tennessee and Arizona are Ryan’s early favorites. He will attend both schools’ summer camps. UCLA, USC, Colorado, Colorado State and UNLV are just a few of the many schools that are showing interest.
The Skinny: Ryan is very young – he just turned 16! Kalil’s best days as a football player are ahead of him. One of the things D1 schools like about Ryan is the fact he is still growing.
Kalil played offensive tackle for Servite, but he projects as a center or guard on the next level. Ryan has incredibly quick feet and explodes on his opponent. Kalil is also an outstanding long snapper, another quality that D1 schools like about him.
Ryan definitely has the bloodlines, his father Frank Kalil, played offensive line for Larry Smith at Arizona where Frank’s position coach was none other that Tennessee offensive line coach Mike Barry. Under Barry’s tutelage Frank was drafted by the Buffalo Bills, but opted to play for the Houston Gamblers of the USFL. Now we understand why Arizona and Tennessee are the early favorites. Ryan has ties to both schools.
The word on Ryan is he has the potential to be as good or better than his Dad and considering his unlimited potential, it is easy to why so many of the nation’s best schools are recruiting him.
