Size and Speed: Kevin stands 6-foot-2, weighs 285 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 5.0 seconds. Brown benches 375 pounds, squats 405 pounds and has 23-inch vertical jump.
Statistics: Kevin played primarily offense as junior for Poly and accounted for 50 pancakes. As a sophomore while playing at Gardena (Calif.) Serra, Brown played defensive tackle and racked up 55 tackles and ten sacks.
Honors: Brown has been selected all-state, all-CIF and all-league as both a sophomore and junior.
Favorite Schools: Brown is very open at this early stage. He is interest in UCLA who has offered, USC, Notre Dame, Syracuse (his brother Eugene plays with the Orangemen), Michigan and Florida State.
The Skinny: Kevin has good size and quickness. One key attribute that Brown’s possesses is a motor that never stops and he never gives up on a play.
On defense Kevin gets off the ball and his blocks very quickly. For an inside player, he’s an awesome pass rusher as his ten sacks as a sophomore would indicate. As a matter of fact, Poly used Kevin as a pass rusher on special occasions and played a lot of defense on passing downs in the CIF championship game that was won by Poly. Brown is also a solid run stopper.
On offense Kevin is an outstanding drive blocker who stays on his blocks until the whistle blows. He’s also an adept pass blocker.
Another thing to like about Kevin is the fact is he’s been qualified since his sophomore year when he scored a 900 on the SAT. Brown will retake the test to get a better score.
“I would prefer to play defense in college,” said Kevin. “But I will play anywhere my coach wants me to. I want to play where I can help the team most and get on the field and produce.”
Kevin is another fine prospect from Poly high. Rivals will keep you informed on the talented players from Poly in the future.
