Junior to Watch: Jo-Lonn Dunbar
School: Syracuse (N.Y.) Corcoran
Position: Running back
Size and Speed: Dunbar is 6-foot, weighs 210 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds. He bench presses 290 pounds, squats 315 and has a 35-inch vertical leap.
Statistics: As a junior, Dunbar rushed for 1,200 yards and scored 14 touchdowns. For his career, he has 2,700 yards rushing and 31 TDs.
Honors: Last season, Dunbar was named all-league, all-Central New York and second-team all-state. He was chosen all-league as a sophomore.
Favorite Schools: Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, Iowa, Rutgers, Toledo.
Skinny: Dunbar is an aggressive, straight-ahead runner. He also plays linebacker on defense.
“I’m very confident,” he said. “On defense, I’m dominating.”
Dunbar has received offers from Rutgers and Toledo. A former high school teammate plays for Toledo and another is headed there this fall. “They’re both trying to talk me into going there,” Dunbar said. “But I’m really in love with Big Ten football. So I don’t know if their talking is going to do any good.”
