”I have nice size, can see through lanes to get the pass completed, and I’m pretty accurate,” Young said.
“I can run to get out of the pocket, or I can stay in the pocket with the heat around me. Mostly I make good decisions.”
In addition to making the Clarion Ledger top fifty junior list a couple of weeks ago, he also was named to the all metro 2nd team and all district team last season.
Young is keeping his eyes open right now when it comes to making a college choice.
“Right now, I am really looking at everyone who is considering me,” he said. “I like the SEC a lot.”
With that in mind he has a ton of favorites right now. So far he has received letters from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Jackson State, Memphis, Colorado, Stanford, LSU, Michigan, Arkansas, Illinois, Southern Miss, and Auburn.
Young is also a standout basketball player at both guard positions and has received letters from Delaware, Jacksonville State, and Mississippi College about becoming a hoops star.
“I would like to play both sports,” he said, and although he hasn’t been told directly, he feels that Ole Miss and Jackson State might give him the chance to do just that.
Proximity to home also appears to be something Jeremy will consider when making his final choice.
“Really, I don’t want to go too far from home," he said. "That way my family can’t come see me. I have a brother (free safety Nathaniel Young) that plays for Wyoming and they aren’t going to get a chance to see him play too many times.
Young attended the Southern Miss - UAB game last fall and camped at Ole Miss and Mississippi State last summer. He plans to return to those two schools this upcoming summer, along with Southern Miss and Auburn.
He has also attended Junior days at Mississippi State and Ole Miss this spring. “I had great conversations with the coaches,” he said. “I liked both coaching staffs.
”They showed me the facilities, and I liked both facilities. That was about it. I am just weighing my options right now.” He also plans to make it to Southern Miss for their Junior Day.
Young is an excellent student and should have no problems qualifying academically.
He currently boasts a 3.5 GPA and has already scored an 18 on the ACT. He is taking the test again in April “to try to get an even higher score.”
