Position: Defensive End
Size and Speed: Grant stands 6-foot-2, weighs in at 240 pounds and runs a 4.9 40-yard dash. He benches 275 pounds, squats 385 pounds and hang cleans 257 pounds.
Statistics: Thomas recorded 58 tackles, five sacks, two fumble recoveries and scored two touchdowns. He returned one fumble recovery for a touchdown. He batted down a pass, picked it off, and returned for a score
Honors: Grant was a unanimous first-team all-league selection.
Favorite Schools: Grant is leaving his options open in the early going. Syracuse, ASU, USC and Fresno State are schools showing interest.
The Skinny: Grant is a three-sport star, participating in football, baseball and wrestling. He wanted to help out is football playing and he took up wrestling last season and he took second in league for his weight. Wrestling has helped Thomas mark improvement in the footwork area of his game.
“Grant is a total team player,” said Buchanan head coach Jim Moxley. “He will do whatever it takes to improve and help the team.”
Grant has a great attitude and a tremendous work ethic. He’s smart, goal oriented and very motivated at achieving his aims. Thomas is a three-year starter who has a great frame and could add weight without a problem according to Moxley. And there is more, Thomas is still growing!

Buchanan head coach Jim Moxley was thrilled three-sport star DeAngelo Ramsey transferred to Buchanan two-thirds into the 2001 season from Los Angeles. Ramsey is a gangly diamond in the rough athlete who is also a standout in track and basketball. “DeAngelo just jumps from one sport to another,” stated Moxley. “He has tremendous potential and could end very good with the right system and coaching.” DeAngelo is another player for you to file under “to keep an eye on.”
