Position: Offensive Tackle
Size and Speed: Erik stands 6-foot-6, weighs 285 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 5.2 seconds.
Statistics: N/A
Honors: Bergland was selected all-league.
Favorite Schools: Erik has no favorites at this time but the whole Pac 10 is interested in the talented newcomer from Beaverton.
The Skinny: Erik moves extremely well for a young man his size. The thing that D1 schools like about Bergland is his tremendous potential. He has only played the game for two years! Erik is very serious about football and sees that the game will be a launching pad for things to come. Bergland has a terrific work ethic and is constantly working on improving his game.
“Erik is a big guy with a lean frame,” said Beaverton head coach Faustin Riley. “He will only get better. Erik has only two years of experience and is very raw but he has unlimited upsides. Two years ago we almost had to show how to put on his shoulder pads, he was that green,” said Riley. “To see him to where is right now is very gratifying.”
Bergland will more than likely redshirt his first year in college because of lack of experience but with the talent and drive that he brings to the table look for him to star in the future in the Pac 10 or a similar level…
And One Before You Go:
Beaverton has another standout who plays line on both sides of the ball in Peter St. John. St. John stands 6-foot-3, weighs in at 275 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 5.2 seconds. St. John was selected first-team all-league as a defensive lineman and second-team all-league on offense as a tackle.
Peter has started both ways since his sophomore year. St. John was dominating on defense and was second the team in tackles. On offense he was second on the team in pancakes.
Peter was the only lineman on his team to go both ways.
He is currently drawing interest from Pac 10 teams…
