Position: Defensive end
Secondary position: Outside linebacker
Size and Speed: Donnie Sommers is 6-foot-2 and weighs 225 pounds. His best 40 yard dash time is 4.70 seconds.
Statistics: Sommers’ statistics are kept at school and he didn’t have any figures available.
Honors: He made first team all-district at defensive end, and second team all-disrict at tight end.
Letters received: Right now just a few small Texas colleges are writing Donnie.
Favorite Schools:
He is getting letters from mostly all of the Texas schools right now.
However: “Ohio State would be my favorite team. I grew up in Ohio, and have always liked them."
Skinny: “My strengths are being able to read plays, because I’m not quite as fast as some of my opponents. I’m also very physical and aggressive.”
Sommers will camp at the Novacek camp held in College Station, and also a Speed-Agility-Quickness (SAQ) camp in Lindale, Texas.
“Distance will be a part of my decision. I really don’t want to go much further than Texas or the states adjacent to Texas.”
Sommers benches 295 pounds and squats 465 pounds.
He plays a somewhat hybrid outside linebacker/defensive end for his team, and probably projects as a defensive end for college.
“I’m looking for a school that has good coaches that will help me reach my potential, and also that has a good Christian atmosphere.”
Sommers currently has a 4.12 (on a 5.0 scale) grade point average and is looking to study kiniseology and theology in college.
