High School: McGregor, Texas

Position: Middle linebacker
Size and Speed: Daniel is 6-foot-0 and weighs 205 pounds. He runs a 4.80 40-yard dash.
Statistics: He recorded 88 tackles last season, with two fumble recoveries. McGregor finished the season at 7-3.
Honors: None received.
Favorite Schools: Hawthorne is hearing from Texas, Oklahoma State, TCU, Rice, Missouri, West Virginia and Texas Tech.
He has not received any offers yet.
"Right now West Virginia is recruiting me the hardest, but I would say Texas Tech is my slight leader," Hawthorne said.
Skinny: Hawthorne benches 315 pounds and squats 400 pounds.
"My strengths are holding my ground and stopping the run."
"I would prefer to stay in the state, but I won’t limit schools from outside."
Hawthorne will camp at Texas A&M this summer.
"I’m looking for a school with a good football program and one with excellent facilities."
