Position: Offensive Tackle
Size and Speed: Kevin stands 6-foot-5, weighs 270 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 5.35 seconds electronically timed. Crews benches 315 pounds and has 24-inch vertical jump.
Statistics: N/A.
Honors: Daniel was an All-City selection.
Favorite Schools: Daniel like his teammate Corey Williams is drawing attention from colleges that have never been by the school before. Crews is very open to the recruiting process and the word is he will get even more attention this spring. UNLV, Oregon State, Utah, USC, Florida, Oregon and UCLA are all interested in the talented tackle from Las Vegas.
The Skinny: Daniel has excellent work habits and that is one of the reasons he keeps getting and better. He’s been around the game his whole and has good bloodlines. His dad Ron Crews played for UNLV in the 1970’s. Daniel’s position coach Art Plunkett was a teammate of his father at UNLV and also played in the NFL with Cardinals and Patriots. So Daniel is being well-schooled in the nuances of the game.
“Daniel is good and getting better,” said Las Vegas head coach Kris Cinkovich. “He has benefited greatly with the presence of his dad and his position coach Art Plunkett. Daniel is always working on his technique and is overall blocking skill.” Daniel is a great drive blocker and a good pass blocker. Las Vegas didn’t have to pass to much last season since they had a running back who rushed for over 3,000 yards and was the Silver State’s Gatorade POY.
Crews is a versatile lineman too, he played weak side tackle as a junior and this year as a senior he will line up as a strong side tackle. Another positive attribute regarding Crews is he’s lean and still growing…
