Junior to Watch: Dan Mazan
School: Carteret, N.J.

Position: Offensive guard
Size and speed: Mazan stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 295 pounds. Dan has been timed at 4.9-seconds in the 40-yard dash. He is extremely strong and bench-pressed 305 pounds for eight reps.
Statistics: Last season Dan had more than 30 pancake blocks and actually had three on one play. From his defensive tackle position he made 58 tackles, nine sacks, five batted passes, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Honors: All-area, all-county, all-conference, all-state group II.
Favorite Schools: None at this time, but he has offers from Rutgers and Temple. He has also received heavy interest from Nebraska, Syracuse, Miami, Boston College, Wisconsin, UCLA, Stanford, Maryland and Iowa among others. He went to Junior Day at Syracuse in early March.
Skinny: Should be one of the most highly recruited offensive linemen on the east coast this year. With a bench press of close to 400 pounds and speed that is made for a pulling guard, college recruiters see great potential in this big-time recruit. He loves the power game and uses his massive body and strength to dominate defenders.
"I'm open as far as schools go, but I do like the brand of football that is played in the Big 12 and Big 10 -- power football."
Does this mean that Dan will go west?
"Not necessarily, I've always loved Nebraska as a kid but I really don't have a favorite right now. I want to take my time and go on my visits."
Expect to see Dan with many more offers before the end of the summer, but don't expect an early verbal.
