Junior to Watch - Chris The Freak Barrett

Junior to Watch: Chris “The Freak” Barrett
School: Tustin, Calif.
Position: TE/DE/MLB
Size and Speed: Chris stands 6-5, weighs 242 and runs the 40 in 4.65
Statistics: Chris caught 17 passes for 450 yards at a whopping 26 yards per catch!
Honors: All-CIF Tight End.
Favorite Schools: No favorites yet, but “The Freak” already has offers from USC, UCLA, ASU, Colorado and Colorado State. The word is Michigan and Nebraska is going to follow suit.
The Skinny: “Chris is going to either catch the ball, run the ball or be the lead blocker for the ball,” said Tustin head coach Myron Miller. “We haven’t had this much interest in a player at Tustin since DeShaun Foster.”
He has good strength with a 305lb bench, 340lb power clean and a 430lb squat. “The Freak” has outstanding work habits; he’s first in the weight room and the last one out.
Barrett won’t be taking any snaps off as a senior as he will play half the game on offense at wingback and the other half as a tight end. On defense head coach Myron Miller wants him to play rush end on D, while the defensive coordinator wants the “The Freak” to play middle linebacker.
Like many great athletes Chris is also a great hoops player, but he won’t play that sport so he can devote all his spare time for football.
Coach Miller let Rivals know that USC, UCLA, ASU, Colorado and CSU have already offered his talented player. Michigan and Nebraska are said to be close to offering. When all is said and done Barrett will name his school. He is the type of player who will garner over 50 offers.
Another thing that schools like about “The Freak” is he should predict…
"The Freak" isn’t the only player from Tustin high school that has D1 recruiters in a tizzy. Tustin is also home for OL Sam Baker (6-5, 280, 5.3). Baker has offers from USC, UCLA and Colorado. Look for this list to expand in the very near future. Sam is a very lean athlete and isn’t even close to filling out. Baker benches 315 and squats 480. He plays pulling guard on the high school level, but has the talent to play anywhere along the offensive front. Sam has tremendous quickness and for the first ten yards; Baker is as quick as anyone. His first four steps are awesome. Sam is already on everybody’s list this season.
Rivals will have more on these two outstanding players very soon.
Stay tuned…
