Position: All-purpose back and Cornerback
Size and speed: He is 5-foot-10, 185 pounds. He has run a flat 4.5 40 yard dash at his school.
Statistics: Byron McCoy was injured last year for all but five games. In those five games, he had 700+ rushing yards, 200 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
Honors: His injury limited his awards to honorable mention All-Conference.
Strong Points: "I don't go down easily. I fight for every yard. I read holes well too, I'm patient and I let them develop."
Favorite Schools: When asked for a list of his current favorites, named the following schools (listed in order of mention):
Northwestern - "It's a great academic school and their football team is good too."
Nebraska - "Nebraska is a powerhouse. My dad and Jason Richenberger's dad were college friends. Jason has given me some tips on things and helped me out."
Missouri - "It's close and they're getting better. I have family who attended MU and I have some friends who are there now."
Wisconsin - "Wisconsin has a good team too and it has good academics."
"If I had a dream school it would probably be STANFORD or DUKE due to their academics."
Skinny: Byron McCoy says that he is 90-95% recovered from his fracture injury. He has been running and lifting with no difficulty. He's hoping to make up for his lost opportunities last year and have a great senior season.
"I want to get stronger and faster. I want to make the state playoffs and do well in them."
He has not made any visits over the past year, except, "I went to a couple Southern Illinois games with my friends last year."
He will be attending one camp this summer - Nebraska.
"If I decide to go to any other camps, I'll have to fit them in around my summer baseball schedule. We usually play about 60-70 games."
"I hunt and fish a lot. I read. I want to major in biology or premed."
