After receiving early ones from Texas Tech and UTEP, the 6-foot-2, 218-pound Johnson has added yet another – this time from Baylor. Recruiter Don Wnek came to the school a few weeks ago to check in on Johnson and senior running back Micah Mosley. Just this week, the official offer came to the Johnson household.
"I knew they were likely to offer from what I had heard and that was one I was expecting, "Johnson said about the Bears. "It's a good one to have. I'll probably go up there for a mini-camp or something to look at their team and see if they're a school I'd like to be a part of."
The Bears have some ground to make up on the Aggies. Currently, Texas A&M sits atop his favorites list.
"I've been over there the most, three times total actually," Johnson said. "Once was for a camp, twice for unofficial visits, and I have the best relationship with coach Kenith Pope. He's an honest guy and I appreciate that.
"A&M is a good place to be. When they get back from off the road recruiting, they're going to look at my film and I think they'll offer soon."
Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, Stanford, and Florida State are other schools that have either sent mail or asked for film. It doesn't look like Johnson is going to be decided anytime soon, so many other offers may come before his commitment is made.
"I was thinking about deciding early," he said. "I'll probably just wait until I take some visits. If I get an offer I like, I may commit. But, I'd still probably look around even after that to make sure it was the right place."
