Junior LB getting attention

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Linebackers seem to grow on trees in the state of Florida. The class of 2006 has no shortage of linebackers and names like Jacksonville (Fla.) Sandalwood linebacker Raheim Ivey are starting to pop up for the class of 2007.
"I like getting through that hole and hitting the running back and anyone else I can get to," Ivey said. "I like playing in coverage fine, but I'm more of a run-stopper type of linebacker. I am good in covering in the flats, but I need to learn how to read the play quicker."

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Ivey runs the 40-yard dash in approximately 4.6 seconds. He's already begun to pick up interest from schools.
"I've been getting letters from Cincinnati and Ball State already," Ivey said. "That's real motivating, I want to work hard so a lot of the SEC schools and those will be sending me mail too."
Like most players that are just starting the recruiting process, Ivey is very humbled by the early attention he's been receiving.
"It is a little surprising me to me that I'm getting some early attention like this," Ivey said. "I think I'm a good enough player, but I just never really thought about it. It's pretty cool to think that I am college material."
Ivey, playing alongside another fellow class of 2007 linebacker prospect Marquis Boone, doesn't have the glamour job, but he's just fine with that.
"My job is to blow up the fullback on the play," Ivey said. "Whenever you take the fullback out of the equation it takes away a blocker or a potential ball carrier. I usually do that and then Marquis comes in and cleans up the mess and takes the ball carrier."
