Junior LB earns honors

Junior linebacker Dakota Conwell of Pittsburgh (Pa.) Upper St. Clair accomplished most of his personal goals during the fall, and is now turning his attention to recruiting.
"Recruiting is pretty good," said Conwell, who is 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds. "I'm hoping it picks up more after the bowl games when the team's seasons end."

Conwell is receiving early interest from Michigan State, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Purdue and Penn State. While most schools are recruiting him as a linebacker, Virginia is actually looking at him as a quarterback.
"I don't have a preference," said Conwell. "I like them both and it just depends on the situation."
During the fall, Conwell did not have the time to visit any schools, but is hoping to change that during the spring. While he does not have any specific plans set yet, he does know what he will be looking for.
"I want to go to a good college town, a winning tradition and a school that has good facilities," said Conwell, who is playing basketball this winter.
Conwell lined up and linebacker and quarterback this fall, and finished with 920 yards passing, 1,080 yards rushing and 23 total touchdowns on offense and 61 tackles, four sacks and one interception on defense.
"I was pleased with the season," said Conwell. "I was hoping our team could've made it farther, but individually I reached a lot of my goals. I got 1st Team All-State at linebacker, 1st Team All-Conference at quarterback and made the Pittsburgh Fabulous 22 team."
