Junior Days start in Big D

The Rivals.com Junior Days kick off this weekend at Southern Methodist University and leave it to Dallas to get things started off in a big way.

While Texas is known as one of the top states for producing talent, big prospects in "Big D" are always expected. However, players from across the Lone Star state and beyond will be making their way into the Metroplex for Saturday's event starting things off even bigger.

A perfect example is one of the top offensive lineman in the country for 2007, Tray Allen. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound tackle has already picked up scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech.

Allen, a player who describes himself as a student of the game, will join some other top prospects from the Dallas area, like linebacker Richetti Jones on Saturday.

Jones, who also has early offers from Texas A&M, Baylor, and Oklahoma State, is a linebacker that coaches have really targeted early. His 6-foot-2, 201-pound frame allows him to be either a stand-up player at the next level or a dominating defensive end. Rushing the quarterback is Jones' specialty and he does it better than most.

Quarterbacks are also high in quality for the state next year and another early offered prospect at that spot will make his way to the event.

Canton signal caller G.J. Kinne, a 6-foot-3, 195-pounder, can beat defenses with his arm or his feet. He too is in the early offers game with Alabama, Baylor, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Texas A&M already involved.

Garland High School is usually a regular stop for big recruiters and it's no surprise after a big 2006 class that there are more on the way in 2007. Three prospects are expected at the event that include running back Johnny Wooten, defensive end Marquis Frazier, and wide receiver Malcolm Williams.

Williams has the size that schools are looking for at the receiver spot. Standing at 6-foot-3, 205-pounds and armed with speed, Williams hauled in 282 receptions and four touchdowns even spending most of his junior year out with injury. His senior season looks to be much bigger.

Frazier is a defensive end that already looks the part of a college defensive end as a junior starter for the Garland team. Wooten will be getting more carries during his senior year and looks to have a breakout season.

Players from the states like Oklahoma and Missouri are also expected to be present at this weekend's event.

While the Junior Days will continue on in the states of Ohio, Illinois, Georgia, Mississippi, New Jersey, California, and Virginia, the Lone Star state is already starting things off with several talented players.
