The fifth annual Rivals.com New Jersey Junior Day will be held on Sunday, April 1 at the Hale Center at Rutgers University and will be headlined by arguably the best athlete from the Garden State in the last decade. Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep athlete Will Hill leads a strong group of Jersey players in the class of 2008.
St. Peter's head coach Rich Hansen is the featured speaker and players will be treated to presentation on training to top performance level by TEST Sports Clubs (www.testsportsclubs.com) featuring former New York Giants Chris Ard and Perry Williams.
Hill, who led St. Peter's to the state title game last year, plays quarterback and defensive back in college and projects as a special corner or safety. His size and footspeed have led to more than 40 written offers.
Metuchen, N.J. wide receiver Dejuan Miller will be on hand, as will fellow wideout Lynell Payne from Marlton (N.J.) Cherokee. Both players have excellent size and are attracting attention from numerous schools with Miller boasting double-digit offers.
Plainfield, N.J. running back Reggie Dixon isn't big but he's one of the fastest players in the country. Fellow scat back Rashad White, who committed to Rutgers this past week, will also be in attendance.
Defensively New Jersey is loaded this year and numerous top prospects are expected to be on hand. Paterson (N.J.) Paterson Catholic defensive tackle Jarel Lowery and Elizabeth, N.J. tackle Hafis Williams are expected to lead a big group of defensive linemen.
At linebacker, Roxbury, N.J. stud Brendan Beal already boasts more than 30 offers while Colonia, N.J. star Eric LeGrand is also a standout on the inside.
Outside linebackers J.B. Fitzgerald and Christopher Pantale are expected to attend as well. Fitzgerald, from Princeton Junction (N.J.) West Windsor Plainsboro South, is one of the top defenders in state while Pantale, from Wayne (N.J.) Wayne Valley, could also be a standout tight end.
Athlete Brandon Smith from New Brunswick, N.J. boasts offers from Michigan, Colorado, Rutgers and Syracuse and will also be on hand.
Out of state, Windsor, Conn. wide receiver Justin Wilson and Fairfield (Conn.) Fairfield College Prep defensive tackle Masengo Kabongo are both expected to attend as is Baltimore (Md.) Milford Mill defensive tackle Teddy Dargan and Camp Hill (Pa.) Trinity offensive tackle R.J. Dill.
Many top underclassmen are also expected to attend led by Jersey running back Theo Riddick who will be one of the top players in state in the 2009 class.
