Junior College LB still looking around

Garden City (Kan.) Community College linebacker Derrick Pope had committed to Alabama during the spring, but things have changed for the athletic linebacker.
"Derrick is a very good linebacker," Garden City head coach Bob Larson said. "He runs to the ball very well. He can play strong safety too."

Larson said several schools have shown interest in Pope. "Colorado, Kansas State, Alabama, TCU and a few others from the area are looking at him. He's a solid player."
Pope was one of the key players at Garden City last season, helping guide the Broncbusters all the way to the junior college national championship game last season. Pope registered 121 tackles, 17 sacks and one interception. He is now running a 4.45-second 40-yard dash, bench-pressing 405 pounds and squatting 555 pounds.
