Junior athlete staying busy

Junior athlete John Van Allen of Avon (Conn.) Avon Old Farms has been busy with several visits this fall, and hopes to take a few more before the end of the year. On the field he has also helped his team to a successful season that he hopes ends with victory.
"Everything is going good," said Van Allen, who is 6-foot-3 and 190-pounds. "I took a visit up to BC for a game last Thursday and they want to see film. It's the same with the other schools. They want to determine whether they want to speed up the offering process or wait until my senior year. I am working on getting film to them now."

Van Allen mentioned that aside from Boston College, the other schools requesting film at this time are Connecticut, Syracuse and Penn State. Van Allen has already taken multiple visits to both Boston College and Connecticut this fall, and discussed his most recent visit to Chestnut Hill.
"It went well actually," said Van Allen. "I got to enjoy their day festivities and their crowd seemed to really be into the game."
Van Allen hopes to visit a new school in the near future.
"I want to take a visit to Syracuse for a game sometime soon and meet with some of their coaches," said Van Allen.
When Van Allen is not dealing with his recruiting process, he has been spending most of his time on the football field.
"My team has a chance to go to a bowl game if we get a win this Saturday, so we're just trying to finish out strong," said Van Allen. "I have really grown and progressed more at both the receiver position and safety as well."
So far this season, Van Allen has totaled five touchdowns on offense and three interceptions on defense.
"As of now, I am being recruited for both receiver and safety," said Van Allen. "I don't really have a preference, but I have grown to like the safety position a little bit more this season."
