Jung discusses commitment

Traver Jung is at peach with his decision. And how could he not be? He committed to No. 1 Mississippi State minutes before the Bulldogs scored a win over Auburn last weekend and is now pledged to join the top-ranked team in America next season.
No, it hasn't been a bad week for the Holmes (Miss.) Community College athlete. Needless to say, he's at peace with his decision.

"It's just a really great opportunity for me," Jung said. "I have a chance to play there and it's one of the top schools in the country. They recruited me out of high school and wanted to give me a chance."
Years later, Jung will get that chance. He has no regrets about jumping on the first major scholarship offer that presented itself. He was garnering interest from schools such as Cincinnati, Troy, Kentucky and Central Arkansas but Mississippi State was, by far, the most successful program involved. To him, the choice was a no-brainer
Still, Jung managed to wait until his visit to accept the head coach Dan Mullen's offer.
"They offered a few weeks before I committed," Jung said. "Not too long ago, though. I just wanted to wait a while and go visit. I committed right before the game against Auburn."
A linebacker-safety hybrid of sorts, Jung's strength is in his versatility. He's played a number of positions during his junior college and high school career, but Mississippi State doesn't plan to shift him around. Apparently, the Bulldogs already have a solid plan for Jung's skillset.
"They say they want me to come in a play the nickel spot," Jung said. "That's a good fit and a good spot for me."
Jung has attended a few Mississippi State games in an unofficial visit capacity this season but is yet to take an official visit. He has not set up a time to do so as of yet.
