Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central tight end/defensive end Tommie Duhart didn’t post the kind of NIKE camp numbers that just leap right off the page at you, but his talent is obvious after looking at his list of offers.
“I have offers from Florida, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame,” Duhart said. “A lot of other schools have been recruiting me and told me that they would probably offer me, but they just wanted to see some senior film on me first.”
The 6-foot-3, 254-pound ran the 40-yard dash in 5.17 seconds at the Miami NIKE camp and ran the shuttle in 4.84 seconds, posted a 22-inch vertical jump and did 21 reps on the bench press.
“Most schools are recruiting me as an athlete right now at both tight end and defensive end,” Duhart said. “I prefer tight end a little bit more, but I don’t mind playing defensive end at all. My top schools right now are Florida, Pittsburgh, Miami and Ohio State.”
Tommie’s father played for the Florida Gators. His uncle (Otis) played for Florida State. He had six tackles in Central’s first game.
“I won’t be making any kind of decision until after I take my official visits,” Duhart said. “I have not set up any of those visits yet, but that is something that I am going to do soon. I know that I will be going to Florida-LSU game in a couple of weeks for an unofficial visit.”
