Juco WR making name known again

North Dakota State College of Science wide receiver Bruce Steele signed with Florida out of high school. Now the Georgia native is making his name known again on the junior college ranks in North Dakota.
“Bruce has great knowledge of the game of football,” NDSCS assistant coach Mike Shafer said. “He also is very coachable.”

Steele’s talents at Emmanuel County Institute in Twin City, Ga. earned him scholarship offers following his senior year of high school from Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, Clemson, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech and Central Florida. He ended up choosing Steve Spurrier’s Gators.
In 2003, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound Steele was limited to six games because of an injured back. In those six games, he caught 20 passes for 408 yards and five touchdowns. The numbers earned him all-region honors.
“Bruce is going to make someone a very good wide receiver,” Shafer said. “He makes big plays and can go up and get the ball. He really dominates his position.”
With Steele having graduated from high school in 1999 and entering college right away, his eligibility clock started and he may be limited to a lower level of football after the 2004 season at NDSCS.
“Bruce is a Division I-A football player who probably will have to go Division II because of his semester clock. Someone is going to get a great player.”
