Juco receiver finally finds home

It appears the saga is over for Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College wide receiver prospect Kerry Reed who has now found a college home.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound receiver was rated a four-star junior college prospect for the 2005 recruiting cycle and after signing with Texas A&M, there appeared to be some problems getting him to campus. Back to square one, Reed and coach Sean Cherico at Coffeyville had to find a college with a scholarship for him and did just that.

"Michigan State is where he's going," Cherico said. "Last Tuesday we found out from A&M that it wasn't going to work. I called around and I called coach Dave Baldwin after remembering him from the year over the recruiting cycle"
"I was just trying to find an option before camp starts to find him a scholarship. There were a number of schools in it until the end, but Michigan State got in real early."
Cherico said the situation is not a normal one either when it comes to filling out paperwork. Reed will not sign a letter of intent since he already signed one with Texas A&M and it's a dead period where players cannot be signed, but he did fill out scholarship papers allowing him to play.
Though the situation is unorthodox, the star receiver has a team to play for now and make an early impact on.
"It really worked out good because it's a four and five wide team," Cherico said. "It's financial aid that he's got and he's going up like he's on scholarship with everyone else. They ended up not getting a juco receiver from Mississippi that committed there so that freed up the offer."
"Kerry is a big time player that will do well at that school."
