Juco RB forced to go small-school route

Muhammad Abdulqaadir is listed as a four-star prospect, but many coaches backed away from him late in the process because of a torn ACL. That forced him to end up signing with a smaller school earlier today.
“He signed with Southern Illinois,” Coffeyville assistant Bryce Ssai said. “Kansas, Kansas State, Washington State and Illinois all backed off of him, but they’re going to probably regret it some day. This kid has a shot to play in the NFL.”
Abdulqaadir was originally placed at Coffeyville by Missouri, but the new staff in Columbia did not see him fitting into its future plans.
