Juco OL Solis has favorite

Offensive lineman Luis Solis has been a key component of Santa Clarita (Calif.) College of the Canyons’ undefeated season. Now, at least one Pac-10 school seems interested in him. It’s a place that he likes right back.
“I just got my phone back, so it’s been hard to get calls, but I’ve been in contact with Washington and Oregon State a lot,” Solis said. “I wanted to go to Washington out of high school, and I really love the location and everything about Washington. If I can go there, if they give me an offer, I will. I hear from Oregon State, just through the regular recruiting process there, nothing really personal or anything.”

A scholarship offer might be all it takes to seal Solis’ commitment to the Huskies, but an official visit might speed up the process.
“I’d like to take an official visit, mostly to Washington, because I’ve never been up there, so I would love to go,” he said.
College of the Canyons has been successful in no small part due to the impact of Solis, 6-foot-5, 315 pounds. Still, the offensive lineman claims that his speed (he runs a 5.0-second 40-yard dash) and quickness are his more impressive traits.
“I’m a big, solid guy who can move,” Solis said. “I played middle linebacker in high school, and our local paper called me the ‘world’s biggest linebacker.’ We’re looking outstanding this year, we have an outstanding offensive line, and we’re stacked everywhere. I’ve been grading out really high every game.”
While he’s still waiting on scholarship offers, Solis might take the opportunity to talk to former teammates about both Washington and Oregon State. Beavers’ cornerback Brandon Browner shared a locker room with Solis, as did Clarence Simpson, a cornerback for the Huskies.
