Juco OL sets first visit

There was a Kenny Rogers’ song in the 1970’s called “The Gambler”. The main theme of the song is to know when to hold them and when to fold them. Pasadena (Calif.) City College (PCC) offensive lineman Louis Pintola (6-5, 310, 5.1) had six D-I offers after his freshman season but he decided to wait it out.
It takes guts and the knowledge that you have a pretty good hand to say to no to legitimate offers from the likes of MAC schools Toledo, Akron, and Ball State, but that is what Pintola did. He decided go back to PCC to try and earn a scholie from a Pac-10 or a Big 12 school.

“It was a roll of the dice,” Pintola said. “Do I take the Mac scholarship or work twice or three or four times harder than any other player to go on and play at a bigger league.”
It looks like Pintola’s gamble will pay off. According to PCC head coach Tom Maher, Pintola has an offer from Missouri. He will visit Mizzou on November 20th.
Pintola is also getting a lot of recruiting love and getting phone calls from UCLA, Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Marshall and Oklahoma State.
Maher thinks very highly of his outstanding and versatile offensive lineman.
“I think Louis is having an All-American season,” Maher said. “He practices hard, plays hard and he’s excellent in pass pro.”
“Louis has played a lot of left tackle, but our team needed him at left guard and he’s done a great job there,” Maher said. “I think he could play center too.”
Pintola doesn’t care what position he plays in college but he would prefer guard.
“I like pulling and using my quickness,” Pintola said. “I’ve been told I move pretty good, like a tight end playing guard.”
