Juco OL Fiapai getting interest

Ramsey Fiapai spent a year at Fordham in Division I-AA before he decided he wanted a shot at D-I. Now at Cerritos (Calif.) College, he’s begun to hear from some of the programs he had envisioned himself playing for.
“I’ve been talking to San Diego State, Colorado State and Cal lately,” Fiapai said. “I have an offer from San Diego State and CSU and Cal seem really interested. Cal and San Diego State stand out to me, because of the team’s success at Cal and the fact that San Diego has been going through a lot of injuries, but the team still looks really good. I’m just looking for whichever of those places is the best fit for me.”

Visits are making their way on to Fiapai’s agenda, with one already planned.
“I’m going to go to San Diego State on December 3 or December 10,” he said. “I’m going to take a visit to the other schools eventually, too.”
The relative ease of Fiapai’s recruiting has not been mirrored by Cerritos’ performance on the field. The team has fallen to 2-5 on the year, and the team’s struggles have overshadowed some of his better personal moments.
“I’m not doing too bad personally, we’ve just been really down because of injury,” Fiapai said. “I’m a consistent blocker, and I’ve been emphasizing run blocking this year. I like to get down and dirty but I can also use my speed. I’m technically sound all around.”
