He continues to get letters from Nebraska, Kansas State, South Carolina, Oklahoma State and now Oklahoma has caught up to him.
''He just visited Oklahoma State last spring and they were very impressed with him,'' his father said. "They want him to go there and I would like for him to go there too, as that is where I went to school and that is where my dad went."
Later in the day, Joe said, "South Carolina was the only school that talked to me and I can't ignore a legend like Lou Holtz." Coach Dave Roberts talked to him about the possibility of playing in South Carolina. Joe said that he will definitely make a visit to there.
He feels right now that South Carolina and Oklahoma State are his top two schools, but he would like to visit Nebraska, Oklahoma and Kansas State too.
"I got letters recruiting me every few weeks in the spring from Kansas State, but they are recruiting me every week now and Nebraska is about the same," Joe Blackard said.
His team lost one game to Santa Ana College - "We beat ourselves against them."
"We got off to a rough start, but we are doing good now. We had no team leader at first. We are two and one right now.'' Their last game they won 64 to six.
