Independence (Kan.) Community College linebacker Marcus Whitmore has said for the past few weeks that he was leaning toward Arkansas, but on Tuesday morning he said he’s now more than leaning.
“I basically told them that I was going to commit to Arkansas here in a few days,” Whitmore said. “I haven’t officially done it, I guess, but I guess you can mark me down as a commitment.”
A soft commitment?
“Yeah, that’d be the best,” Whitmore said. “I still think I’m going to take some visits and see what happens.”
Whitmore said he’d still like to take visits to Oklahoma and South Carolina.
“South Carolina is home for me,” Whitmore said. “And Oklahoma is the defending national champion and they need linebackers. But I’m definitely high on Arkansas. They’re my team right now.”
Whitmore has an offer from Arkansas, but South Carolina and Oklahoma have not officially offered him at this point.
Whitmore led the Jayhawk Conference in tackles with more than 130 stops.
