JUCO LB makes his choice

After an official visit to East Carolina last weekend, junior college linebacker Joseph Blanks of Brooklyn (N.Y.) ASA College decided that he wanted to be a Pirate. For Blanks, it will actually be a trip back home, as he originally hails from North Carolina.
Coach Joseph Fenelon was able to give more insight on Blanks and his commitment.

"He's a physical linebacker," said Coach Fenelon. "He gets downhill fast, is an explosive tackler and was the heart and soul of the ASA defense, which statistically finished #1 in the NJCAA in yards allowed per game. He was also a two-year captain."
During the 2010 season, Blanks, who is 6-foot-2 and 235 pounds, finished the season with 49 total tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, five sacks and two forced fumbles in nine games.
Aside from the Pirates, Blanks was also considering Indiana State and Maine, which he also had offers from.
Finally, Coach Fenelon discussed what he will bring to East Carolina and what his connection is to the school.
"Jojo brings toughness and physicality to the ECU defense," said Coach Fenelon. "Jojo is a North Carolina kid that played in the Shrine game two years ago and East Carolina was his dream school."
