JUCO LB getting ready to trip

Chris Davis (6-1, 225, 4.6) from Moorpark College has had another outstanding season from his linebacker position. For his efforts, he was named first-team all-conference and helped to lead Moorpark College to lead the league for total defense (217.7 yards per game). As a sophomore, Davis had more than 100 tackles, eight sacks, three forced fumbles and two blocked field goals.
With a season like that is easy to see why the D-I schools have come a calling. Davis has set some of his recruiting trips and he will start his trips this weekend (December 5th).

"I start on Saturday (Dec. 6),” Davis said. “I’m going to Hawaii and then I’m going to Colorado State the following weekend (Dec. 12)."
Neither school has formally offered him, but more than likely Davis will get an offer on his trips.
Regarding Hawaii offering him, he said, "I hope they will,” Davis said. “The (Hawaii) coach is going to come to the house after I get back."
"Then, I’m going to Michigan State the weekend of the 19th (of December),” Davis said. “I have talked to a couple of Michigan State coaches. I talked to the defensive coordinator and the linebacker coach."
When asked if he thought Michigan State would offer him, he said, "I think so. They like my film. I’m going to see if I like the school."
Those are not the only schools paying attention to him.
"We went to UNLV last weekend (Nov. 21) and got to meet all the coaches there."
He has been talking to coaches from Weber State, Troy State and Arkansas State.
One Pac-10 Conference school might be coming into the picture for him.
"UCLA just requested my transcripts and tape,” Davis said. “I don’t have much time. Michigan State starts classes on the 12th of January."
He is not claiming any particular favorite at this time.
"They (UNLV, Hawaii, Colorado State and Michigan State) are all great schools,” Davis said. “I don’t know if one is in the lead. I have to take all the factors into consideration. I don’t know."
Davis has become one of the most recruited JUCO linebackers in the country. Not bad for player who was an all-CIF punter at Oxnard (Calif.) Rio Mesa when he was high school.
Who said punters aren’t football players?
